I began my roles as digital communications intern for the Environment and Health Council of Louisiana in May 2017. The E&HCL hosts an annual conference that focuses on health and environment as it relates to Louisiana. I wrote a release that announced the date and location of the conference and provided additional details about the event. I distributed the release to local media outlets. The release was published on WVLA's website and The Advocate's business section. The Council also spoke on-air with WAFB to promote the conference.

Independent Work Description: To promote the Council’s annual conference, I wrote a press release that announced the event. The press release included a brief description of the conference, how people could register and other pertinent information about the E&HCL. I distributed the press release to several local media outlets. The press release was published on the website for WVLA, a local broadcast station. The Advocate, a local newspaper, also published the release in their business section. The Advocate even added the event to their community calendar. Finally, the local broadcast station WAFB interviewed one of the Council members during their morning news segment on October 25, 2017. |

The press release was primarily for internal communication. I also distributed to the release to local media outlets. The release focused on the new members and their occupations. The press release also described what the Board of Directors do with the E&HCL, such as plan their annual conference. |
